I (Jason) started Lap Records in earnest as a CDr label in the summer of 2000, mainly out of neccesity, to put out a demo by The Secret Hairdresser (along with t-shirts) in time for some gigs in Denmark (neither the t-shirts or CDs sold...), but the hope was always there that it could turn into a proper label, as at the time, noone really took CDrs seriously, although we love them.

But now, we've turned Lap Records into a "proper" label, with proper CDs/records, music videos and international distribution from Backs & Shellshock. It remains to be seen how many proper releases we can afford to fund. Fingers crossed...

We will still release the majority of stuff as CDrs, cos we like them, they're cheap, and it's instant.
